Custom Miis! Mii wedding cake topper?

Dan and I are gettin' hitched on April 5th and I've been stalking these possible wedding cake toppers for a while.

Totally awesome custom Miis by Paul Pape Designs! He offers the wedding set for $100 for the basic, $150 for the mid (more detailed wedding attire) and then $200 for the deluxe (REALLY detailed wedding attire). I think I like the basic best though.

Ouch...steep price though...are those really legit though...or someone ripping off the Mii license?

Dude, have you seen how expensive everything else for a wedding is?

As for the license, best not to ask...

I don't think this guy is contracted through Nintendo but I still love these little figures. Price is pretty steep but many of those ugly porcelain wedding toppers can go for more than 100 bucks. This is the first thing I've even considered putting on top of the cake, lol.

I'm well aware how much a wedding can cost. I was just as surprised at some of the things that cost a lot just as you are. I'm just saying it's still expencive. Most of the things my wife and i did we made on our own. Was a lot of work, but it saved hundreds of dollars in the end, and it looked just a professional as it would have had we spent the money. Things like making our own invitations, buying our own food and family volunteering to help fix it. Easy type food too..that woulding require you to have to spend a lot of time making it...that way no family missed the wedding. It was all still expencive, but we had it under a tight budget and it worked well. I think the Mii bride/groom is cute and all, but I'm just the kind of person that thinks if your going to rip off a license from a company, then discount your merchandise a little better than that. Thats my own thinking. Sadly, as you two will continue finding out...there are only 2 "constant" expencive things in this world that keep getting more and more expencive, and will never be out of style. Weddings, and Babies. My wife and I are at the baby stage, and everything is expencive. A baby outfit shouldn't EVER cost over $20, and yet some sell for $50 to $100. Thats absurd...but it still sells. But anything you really have to have, is always expencive, because you HAVE to have it, thus, ripoff city here we come!

The PS3 is a totally different issue. Sony just believes their console is God's gift to the world...and so they can put a huge markup on it. But thats fools for you. :) Funny that they are going down now...

Yeah I hear that.

We're on a tight wedding budget too but I have managed to cut a lot of corners (didn't pay $800 for a dress I'll wear once, getting BBQ for food instead of pricey caterers, making our own invites, friend doing my hair and flowers and cake...)

I still can't believe I found 100 invites for like $500. that is INSANE! People just throw them away, so you're just essentially throwing away $500+ bucks!

Babies are a whole 'nother world...I'm still quite frightened of the whole being a parent thing.

At least someone appreciates it.

Hi, I'm actually the guy who makes these. As far as pricing goes, it's a little expensive, but it is custom. Custom costs. And as far as licensing goes, Nintendo and I have a nice relationship. Nintendo doesn't offer licensing for the Miis (it's a legal nightmare), but is OK with me producing one-ups of other people's characters. I've been doing it for almost two years and have been working WITH Nintendo the entire time. I'm about as close to licensed as Nintendo is getting.
